Huge thanks to the folks at Art In Time for allowing us to film this and many other incredible timepieces.
Welcome to MB&F and HM9 This is the MB&F HM9 Sapphire Vision, and it is without a doubt the craziest, craziest, grotesque, most haunting watch you will ever see. As MB&F calls it, it's one of a long line of horological machines that take a watchmaking rulebook, put it in a shredder, soak it in bleach, crunch it up, and beat it into space.
MB&F does not manufacture watches. It's hallucinating. Combine all the childhood experiences of founder Max Büsser with a budget that would make any watchmaker rave about heaven, and combine that with a group of friends – that’s the “F” in MB&F – and they are The people who are the best at building devices in the world measure time.
This is a large part of the rulebook that MB&F has abandoned, an entire chapter in fact: Inside. MB&F is proud that other people will work for them, because the reality is that if you want the best, you have to assemble the best team for a given job, legends like Kari Voutilainen and Peter Speake-Marin.cheap watches for sale
This is a process Max has developed alongside the Harry Winston Opus collection, and the result is each machine with its own unique personality while looking every bit like a horological machine. Not surprisingly, the 2018 HM9 is the ninth iteration of the range, drawing inspiration from the streamlined era of the late '40s, when aerodynamics were only really beginning to be understood. You know, when Cadillacs had fins, everything went like a rocket.
The original HM9 was cool, but like all good creators, Max realized that cool could be even cooler, so he started working on the evo model, taking the concept to crazy new places no one had dared consider before. Enter the HM9 Sapphire Vision.
HM9 Sapphire Vision Data Bear with me for now, we treat the HM9 SV like any other watch. I'm going to start by giving you some details, specs, numbers, all that stuff because while treating it like a Rolex Submariner is like going to the grocery store in a V-22 Osprey I think it's good to have this watch in the , so that by the end you don't think you're in a ten-minute fever dream.replica Richard Mille RM 033
The most obvious addition to the HM9 SV is the case, which ditches metal for sapphire. It certainly creates an eye-catching look, showing off the incredible movement structure even more than the previous version. Sapphire is processed like metal, with one notable difference. Cutting metal is like slicing cheese compared to sapphire. Sapphire is one grade less hard than diamond, and frankly, it's a major challenge to work with.
This is why sapphire crystals that mimic vintage domed acrylics are often more aggressively stepped to reduce the amount of curved surface treatment being done and thus the number of operations required for shaping. Think of it as resolution. If the Submariner's crystal is like the resolution of a Casio monitor, the HM9 SV is like dual 8k screens in the world's most powerful VR setup.
That's why the shell of the HM9 SV took 350 hours to machine. for a case. 350 hours sounds like a lot, but it's hard to quantify. Think of it as a ten-week, two-and-a-half-month workweek. That's enough time to watch the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy over thirty times. I mean extended version.online shop for watch
As any engineer knows, problems breed problems, and Max insisted on making this workable, so he demanded that it be water-resistant to 30 meters. You know, for all the big guys who go swimming with their half-worn watches. However, the machine was not designed to be seen and touched, so a metal clamping system was devised to pull the two halves of the sapphire case together and seal it with a gasket in the middle.
But how do you seal the frame to the sapphire in the first place? As the people at MB&F found out, they found it difficult. Finally, after finding no special friends to help them, they devised a process similar to carbon fiber manufacturing, bonding the two materials together in a vacuum autoclave.
So, what is this precious cargo that has taken a lot of effort? What you get here is a double balance wheel movement that beats at a slow, slow 18,000vph. Why so slow? Because it looks cooler. However, slower balances are more prone to oscillation errors, so MB&F did two things: it mounted the entire movement on a laser-cut suspension, and it combined the average performance of each balance in a planetary differential in the accelerator.
You know how in your car, when you turn a corner, the drive wheels turn at different speeds, while the wheels inside just spin? Same deal here. If one scale has time, the other scale picks up the mess and takes on it while it sorts it out on its own. All told, you get 45 hours of power reserve, which you have to manually wind from the Thunderbird 4 jet on the back of the machine. Those two spinning propellers at the bottom? Those are just for fun.replica Breitling Endurance Pro
HM9 SV Madness how big is it How to wear it? These are all sensible questions for a smartwatch. The HM9 SV is big, about 47mm wide and 23mm thick, and despite the inside straps installed, it still resembles a tiny jetpack. The face-mounted sapphire dial means you save yourself the effort of turning its weight to read it, but all in all, it's a crap watch. It sucks to make watches. It's big, heavy, and hard to read. If you want a good watch that tells the time, get a Submariner.
But before you cancel your deposit on one of the 20 HM9 SVs being built, let me tell you a story. Some of you may remember that I bought myself a Hamilton railway pocket watch. I didn't buy it for the shabby plastic dial, I bought it for the lovely looking movement despite being hidden behind a solid case. So I found that I could unscrew the case back and unscrew the front panel with the crystal glass and swap them. Pocket watches can't be used as timekeeping tools these days, but I love them more than ever.
HM9 SV is not used to read time. You can, but think of it more as a secondary USP. It's a bit like discovering that your new coat has a secret in the zipped pocket. It's not why you bought the coat, but you're glad it's there. Really, you bought the coat because it's the coolest thing you've ever seen, and you like the way it makes you feel.Jacob & Co. Well, this may be an extension of the jacket, but it's 100% true to the HM9 SV. It's a tactile, sensory overload on a miniature scale, a series of discoveries that pays off for every ounce of time spent. You'll see it a year later and see new details you missed before, ever-moving sapphire extensions and new angles that distort your vision.
If you're worried that the quality of this piece won't stand up to scrutiny, take it easy because you won't find finer watchmaking than this. The HM9 SV may look like the brainchild of a madman - and it is - but that just means it's been taken more seriously in its execution. You have to be a certain type of soul to execute commands to accomplish what is essentially an adult toy of the highest state of art. That's Max Büsser in a nutshell, thank goodness he's that special type of soul.
There are very few watches where you'll feel bad after scrutinizing with a macro lens that it lasts less than an inch because you just have to scratch the surface. This is one of the few watches out there. Some watches use up every opportunity of raw footage and have many minutes of video to fill, while others have so little, it's very rare that you wish the video was an hour long, if only to wrap it up properly.
You'll notice that I didn't even bother to describe in detail the sights this watch has to offer because there's no point. Our time is running out and I don't even know where to start. You just have to let your eyes do the talking for me.Audemars Piguet Replica
